Incomplete manuscript history of Seattle Pacific College written by former president C. Hoyt Watson entitled "The Christian Liberal Arts College: The story of the first 75 years of Seattle Pacific College in Christian Higher Education." Watson completed four full chapters and part of a fifth prior to his death.

Charles Hoyt Watson served as the third president of Seattle Pacific College (now Seattle Pacific University). He was born in Kansas on December 12, 1888. He attended the University of Kansas and obtained a B.A. in 1918 and an M.A. in 1923. His presidential term at SPC lasted from 1926 to 1959, the longest of any president thus far. Established in 1890 with nine members, the Board of Trustees is the governing body for Seattle Pacific University (formerly Seattle Seminary and Seattle Pacific College). Originally, all nine members were elected by the Washington Conference of the Free Methodist Church. By 1950, the Board had the authority to elect up to eight members.
